Highland Park - The Dark

Jarvie was asked by Highland Park to develop a 3d design for a whisky bottle embossing, based on a serpent illustration that is steeped in the aesthetic language of the brand (see illustration in grey below).

To achieve a whisky bottle design that literally pushed the boundaries of what was possible, the project began by discussing the technical parameters of the glass blowing process with the manufacture, in order to understand how far the embossing geometries can be pushed before being affected by technical production issues. Armed with this knowledge it was possible to develop a 3d whisky bottle design that was at the outer limit of what is technically possible. This resulted in a whisky bottle design that has a particularly striking visual character.

The design is used for both ‘The Dark’ and ‘The Light’ which are both 17 year old single malts.

The whisky bottle design gained international recognition winning prizes at both The German Design Award and at the WorldStar Awards.
